Continuing from last month is this conflict between Jupiter and Saturn. Jupiter in Gemini is giddy with expansion in areas of transportation and communication. Thanks to Jupiter’s confident generosity, unusually great numbers of people, messages, and deliveries are circulating freely. Freedom is natural and good. But can there be too much of a good thing? Jupiter doesn’t think so! How right is he? How much is too much? Are we overwhelmed with too much information and too many details to process?
Responsible, realistic Saturn in Pisces is definitely not amused with Jupiter’s carefree circulation-fest. Doesn’t it exacerbate our problems? And what good is a lot of talk, paperwork, and running around if necessary work isn’t getting done? Citing unmet essential needs, disorder, waste, and general irresponsibility, Saturn is calling for attention to practical imperatives and a halt to reckless extravagance. Where is the line between responsible control and stifling overcontrol?
Clearly the status quo can’t continue. It’s time to get real, relax unnecessary restrictions, and ‘put on the brakes’ where restrictions are truly needed. Illustrative events now may serve as a wake-up call.

As in every year at this time, we are going into a month of consolidation and preservation. It’s time to give serious consideration to our most necessary duties, converting insights into action. What can we do now to make the coming year better than the last one? We need to check on the security of whatever we’ve gained, evaluate our practical achievements, and update our management system as necessary.
TRANSITING MARS OPPOSITION TRANSITING PLUTO

Mars was direct in late October, when he came into this confrontational aspect with Pluto in the Cancer-Capricorn axis. Now retrograde and reviewing past actions, he’s backed into this same confrontation, this time in the Leo-Aquarius axis.
Now, within all of us, Mars the Warrior is defending his interests in spectacular Leo, head to head with Pluto the Revealer of Truth in creative Aquarius. As before, it’s more of a test than a contest, and truth (not necessarily the latest or most popular thing) has the clear advantage. One should choose carefully. Where Mars fights for truth, there is alliance for victory and no real conflict. But a choice to fight against truth invites harsh conflict and certain defeat.
The sign changes suggest that we now face the retrograde review of this opposition with more maturity than we were showing the first time, back in October. We know more now than we knew then, about our situation and about ourselves.
With oppositions, neither side should dominate, and cooperation is always a possibility. The question this opposition poses is the same as before: Are you fighting for the truth, or are you fighting against it? So how do we answer it this time? Are we pushing in vain for something that’s inconsistent with the truth?

The Capricorn Sun is all in with Saturn’s practical agenda. It’s relatively easy now to do what we need to do. Our mental focus is clear. Because we’re rational and patient, we can deal well with obstacles or limitations. This aspect makes for good relations with authorities.

Cancer is about safety and security, and retrograde Mars is back to pushing for that from now until late in April. Mars rightfully channels the fundamental motivation for survival. We will not hesitate to do whatever we may need to do in order to protect our homes and ways of life, and to keep our families safe.

This is a recurrence of October’s transit of action on ideals and beliefs. Visions of the world as we wish it to be have been forming in response to our imagination and prayers. Again we’re reaching up to the clouds, acting to bring them down to earth and make them real. Recent revisions of ideals may call for corrective actions now.

A creative impulse can inspire innovative ideas now. This trine being in Earth signs, they’re likely to be practical ideas that can bring improvement in the material world. It’s desire vs. honor on the Cancer-Capricorn axis. Mars is fighting to maintain his “pursuit of happiness”, which is rooted in natural instincts for survival and safety, but often includes unhealthy or destructive habits and whims. The noble Sun disapproves of the latter and obviously (maybe arrogantly) seeks control over them now.
Fevers, resentments, and nasty ego battles can flare up easily. Accidents are more likely than usual, but they don’t have to happen if the two are alert to danger. Mars needs to avoid actions that harm others, and the Sun should stick to setting a good example of self-control.

This one enables empathy and imagination in a positive way.
