A General Astrological Forecast for the Month Ahead
The Sun will be in Aquarius from January 20 through February 20. The following forecast for the month of Aquarius is general and will apply to everyone.
Each aspect listed below will be in effect (“in orb”) between its Entering and Leaving dates but strongest on its Exact date. The aspects in play at any time may or may not harmonize well with one another.
TRANSITING SUN ENTERING AQUARIUS

As the Sun makes its annual entrance into unconventional Aquarius, it’s time for a month of creative magic. Do we really need the structures set up in the past? Some of them we really do need, but probably not all. Maybe the efforts and expenses of maintaining some of them would be better spent elsewhere. This is always a likely month for exciting new experiments and experiences that we never imagined before. While (hopefully) bearing in mind that there’s such a thing as too crazy, we’re ready to open our minds to spontaneous, original ideas that could prove to be both harmless and helpful. Some will manifest as group projects.
TRANSITING PLUTO ENTERING AQUARIUS

On this most unusual day, the Sun is accompanying Pluto into Aquarius! This transition is routine for the Sun, which enters Aquarius every year; but Pluto, whose orbit is 248 years long, hasn’t been in Aquarius at all since 1799!!
Slow and ultra-powerful Pluto ‘peels away’ the proverbial ‘onion skins’ to reveal what is deeply hidden within whatever it touches. Since late in 2008 it’s been in Capricorn, intensifying and exposing secrets within leadership and established structures at all levels. In the autumn months of 2024 it will revisit Capricorn to finish its job there, but otherwise it’s in Aquarius to stay all the way into the early 2040s. Now we will begin to see what’s been developing invisibly among individual people and groups of volunteers.
The ingress of any slow-moving planet into a new sign marks a significant time of change for society in keeping with the signs involved. In the case of Capricorn-to-Aquarius, the metaphor of a slingshot comes to mind. The increasing pressure and tension during the Capricorn period is like the stretching of the rubber as the slingshot’s projectile is slowly drawn back (over the past 16 years in the present case with Pluto). As the Aquarius period begins, the ‘projectile’ is launched into flight.
The last time Pluto left Capricorn and entered Aquarius, as it is doing now, was way back in December of 1778, during the progress of the American Revolution. A review of history can yield valuable clues to what is happening in the world now. Although times have changed greatly since then, we can expect to see important parallels between that time and this.
What will Pluto do during its forthcoming stay in Aquarius? Nothing in Aquarius is really predictable, but as Pluto has been working in Capricorn to transform basic structures of society, so it should work in Aquarius to reveal human creativity and transform science and social ideals. Theoretically it should not only reveal things like secret inventions and various peculiar phenomena that we never knew existed, but also launch an exciting renaissance of new creativity. We know that the objects of Pluto’s revelations are never again viewed the same as before. We know also that Pluto’s last trip through Aquarius lasted from 1778 to 1799, so we can look to history during those 21 years for clues to what the contemporary version of this transit might be.

Overoptimism and overconfidence may be problematic now. We get simultaneous “go ahead” signals from two areas that are fundamentally incompatible, and saying yes to both of them can result in an overload. A situation can seem so good from an objective standpoint that we fail to recognize that we’re somehow unsuited to it or don’t really believe in it. Overinvestment in it can subject us to the stress of working against ourselves.
TRANSITING URANUS STATIONARY

Uranus has been retrograde since the end of August 2023. Original thought has been on hold for review and possible editing. Have there been flaws in our thinking? Have some of our ideas been based on false assumptions? Not bold enough, or too crazy? Inferior to even better ideas we’re getting now? While considering the implications of enlightening insights, we’ve been holding our creative breath. Now, keeping any revisions in mind, we exhale and move forward again.

About three weeks ago we enjoyed some days of creative inspiration. Now we’re taking forceful action to make new ideas happen. Groups of independent thinkers who share similar ideals now work effectively in the real world. Change should be noticeable.

We can have vivid visions to believe in. The experience of effective new progress enables clearer visions of the goals. Maybe “impossible” dreams that haven’t seemed worth imagining aren’t so impossible after all! What do we really want? We can ‘see’ it more clearly now because we’re already starting to do it. Visualizing intentions helps to make dreams come true.

We may meet with something of a shock now, and this one is interesting. You might ask how we could be shockable, with the Sun already a little crazy during its transit through Aquarius. The answer is that our present encounter is with a different kind of crazy from what we might expect.
Uranus is the planet that rules Aquarius, and whose energy makes Aquarius that “crazy, rebellious sign” in the first place. Now we have the transiting Sun (general awareness) in Aquarian rebel mode, crossing paths with Uranus, the ‘Rebel Boss’, who’s currently in Taurus, or earthy fertility mode. So now, symbolically, the liberated Sun gets an abrupt and powerful ‘order from the Original Rebel Boss’ to rebel and get creative on behalf of ordinary nature! Hmmm.
There’s never any telling what either unconventional Uranus or a liberated Sun might do, but Uranus now being in earthy Taurus, they might well startle us with an unexpected display of radical practicality and common sense.
TRANSITING MARS CONJUNCTION TRANSITING PLUTO

It may or may not (hopefully not!) involve a literal deafening explosion, but Mars’ action now is transformational and unlikely to be pretty. Outworn and toxic elements are poised for elimination, and now there’s an extremely powerful move for intense cleaning and purification on many levels. Be the action noisy or quiet, it’s a move for permanent change. Truth is our friend.
TRANSITING MARS ENTERING AQUARIUS

Assertive Mars now moves into creative mode. We’re tired of fighting to survive in the material world, to maintain the status quo, or to amass more resources, as the case may be. The course we take over the next several weeks is largely unpredictable, but this much is certain: People won’t accept any kind of “life” that feels like a straitjacket. Where structures built by society are not working for the people who inhabit them, people now begin creative action either to upgrade those structures significantly or to be free of them entirely.
